Week 6 college football picks … watch where you’re kicking, man

not thinking college football picksWhen it comes to punting, the best direction is to go up. Straight up, if possible. Last Saturday, Tennessee punter Trevor Daniel decide to go straight up in a different way. He decided to go straight up a teammate’s tush. And he missed, hitting Georgia’s D’Andre Walker.

It wasn’t the thing that lost the game 41-0 game to Georgia, but it sort of epitomized it.

It was a beautiful moment of not thinking, something I will try to emulate as I make my picks for Week 6 of the college football season.

ICYMI: Cam Newton’s brother and the big payoff

Season odds HowardA few things you might have missed during the REAL opening weekend of the college football season.

Howard quarterback Caylin Newton, brother of Carolina Panthers quarterback and Heisman winner Cam Newton, led Howard, a 45-point underdog, to a 43-40 victory over UNLV. Caylin Newton had 330 yards total offense and three touchdowns.

But the real winners were those few who bet on Howard.

They’re back! 5 transfer quarterbacks that could make a difference

Hey, remember these guys? The 5-star quarterback that was going to send your team into the stratosphere for the next 3-4 seasons?

They played at places like USC, Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame and LSU.

Then things didn’t work out. They left the program. Transferred to another. And now they’re eligible for this season.

Will fortunes be restored to these quarterbacks … or will the become irrelevant?

Each one comes with promise and baggage. But it likely will come down to how well they perform in those first five games.
