Week 9 college football picks … this time with an important message

Another tough week of picking games, but I’m still not going to start thinking about them. It wouldn’t be worth it, despite the advice I received from NBA superstar Michael Jordan.

I’m still not going to think about it, even though I’ve dropped to 77 percent success rate.

Week 7 college football picks … the latest dose of ‘poison’

College football picks Poison Nick Saban thinking
Poison — a band and something the media keeps giving to Nick Saban’s players

Remember when Alabama coach Nick Saban said he didn’t even know “Why do we even play?” because of all of the predictions and picking and thinking by the media.

Well, now he’s sick of the “poison” the media has been giving his players.

After Texas A&M made it uncomfortable, the top-ranked Crimson Tide prevailed, 27-19, at College Station, Texas.

A venting Saban said after the game:

“I’m trying to get our players to listen to me instead of listening to you guys. All that stuff you write about how good we are. All that stuff they hear on ESPN. It’s like poison. …  It’s like taking poison. … Like rat poison.”

His team is ranked No. 1, and Nick Saban says praising his players is like giving them poison? Well, I guess it’s like when you have a rose and it has a thorn. Last Saturday, Tennessee punter Trevor Daniel decide to go straight up in a different way. He decided to go straight up a teammate’s tush. And he missed, hitting Georgia’s D’Andre Walker.

It wasn’t the thing that lost the game 41-0 game to Georgia, but it sort of epitomized it.

It was a beautiful moment of not thinking, something I will try to emulate as I make my picks for Week 6 of the college football season.

Week 5 college football picks … is everyone on the field?

Kentucky college football thinkiingSo who wasn’t thinking last week? Have to say Kentucky and Coach Bob Stoops. The Wildcats gave up Florida’s game-winning touchdown with only TEN men on the field.

Gators quarterback Luke Del Rio hit a wide-open Freddie Swain for the 28-27 victory. Wide-open as in nobody was there to cover him.

Doh! That’s not thinking.

But sometimes I think too much. Like Week 4: Zoom to the bottom! Only had 73 percent correct on my picks. When it comes to thinking, I need to don’t stop stopping.
