How about some good, inspiring news?

Former Southern University wide receiver Devon Gales, who suffered a fractured vertebra while covering a kickoff against Georgia almost two years ago, is making progress in his recovery.

As reported by Yahoo Sports, Gales posted on his Instagram account his first game of catch since the injury.

USC quarterback Sam Darnold doesn’t let a waking moment go by when it comes to showing off his skills.

As businessinsider.com reported, some players are hitting the weights or studying game film to get ready for the season. Darnold used some of his time to pass to some speeding receivers on wakeboards.

If only they could have wrangled up some gators to play defense, we’d have a real game going on.

President Donald Trump made the commencement address at Liberty University Saturday. In doing so, he took the opportunity to announce some of the school’s upcoming football opponents.

Liberty is moving up from the FCS to the FBS in 2018.

And Trump also took the opportunity to needle school president Jerry Falwell Jr. about the schedule. He questioned Liberty’s chances to win, especially against SEC foes Auburn (2018) and Ole Miss (2021).

Monday college football headlines: Tiger buys a Jaguar for mom

Deshaun Watson, quarterback for the national champion Clemson Tigers, was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft this past weekend. In turn, he celebrated his mother’s birthday by buying her a Jaguar.

Watson purchased mom Deann Watson a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace 35T.

On Instagram, Watson wrote, “Happy Birthday Mama! I love you and you deserve your first official car! Enjoy it. Had to cop her the 2017 Jaguar! Blessings from above! You my rock and my inspiration.”
