KU using seatbacks to get seats back

Kansas University, according to a recent article in the Sports Business Journal, has become the latest school to work with IMG College to offer its fans a seatback chair with the purchase of a football season ticket.

KU is hoping the partnership will help boost ticket sales. The Jayhawks program averaged just 25,828 fans in 50,071-seat Memorial Stadium last season.

According to the IMG website, it partners with more than 130 programs in college, NFL, racing, and other events. It also represents 10 of the largest football stadiums in college football.

So basically both the school and IMG believe the seatbacks will bring some seats back?

The Jayhawks (2-10 in 2016) have been to only 12 bowl games in history, have not been ranked since 2009, haven’t had a winning season since 2008 and have won only five conference games since 2008.

Yep. Not having seatbacks … that definitely was the problem.
